The Tsu’Chu Biz course provides a vehicle through which wider benefits can be achieved because of the collaborative approach (for young people) by various sectors of society:
- Builds the economy through education in entrepreneurship and the development of start-up businesses for the younger generation. As of October 2011 there are almost one million young unemployed aged 16-25 years of age in the UK
- Addresses the needs of business: many businesses today complain that young people leaving school or university are not work-ready; the experience of the Tsu’Chu Biz course means that young people are learning at an early stage to develop people skills, know what it means to be a team player, recognise the importance of clear communication and building trust, they learn different leadership styles. Even if the youngsters do not decide to start their own business immediately, entry into the business world is often attractive and employers are looking for a ‘rounded’ education in their employees
- Addresses society’s need to cut unemployment and promote job creation through the training of delivery mentors across the UK (and internationally), utilising a cross section of the workforce including those who are either beginning or ending their careers, or in mid career, to include post graduates and semi or retired business people
- Stimulates the Entrepreneurial Spirit - Youngsters from disadvantaged backgrounds Many of the young people who have participated in the Tsu’Chu Biz course to date come from disadvantaged backgrounds where apathy is apparent, self esteem is low and where they would appear on the surface to possess few skills. They often have little desire to learn and no direction, but a high percentage of them in fact show an innate and marked entrepreneurial spirit. These youngsters also have talents and energy but they do not know how to channel them positively.
- Over four years of delivering the Tsu’Chu Biz course to young people from all backgrounds, abilities and cultures we have discovered that the vast majority of them never consider for a moment that entrepreneurship could be a choice for their future. By contrast, at the end of the course, informed and with their small businesses ready to start, youngsters leave with a completely new perspective on life and career choices; entrepreneurship is now within their grasp.
- Builds society and helps to avert family breakdown By using our family business advising expertise, counselling and therapeutic expertise and partners, the Tsu’Chu Biz Foundation intends to run the course for young people who could be open to include their families in the ownership of their business.
- Showcases a unique and innovative approach to learning and teaching for young people that teachers and head teachers have shared they find powerful, fresh and stimulating
- Draws attention in a positive way to health/obesity issues in young people. With the undeniable benefits and joy of technology youngsters often forget the joy, value and importance of physical activity. The Tsu’Chu Biz course raises awareness of and interest in fun, daily physical activity. Youngsters leave the course wanting more - football, health information etc. Those overweight become very aware of the limitations of their weight on their physical abilities so are eager to do something about it. We are therefore keen to collaborate with major players in the nutrition, health and fitness industries to develop add-on courses.
- Provides opportunities for mutual and societal benefit through collaborative practice.
